Shops
Shops are very important in our life. There are many different kinds
of shops in every country,
Large shops with many departments are department stores. In these stores we can buy almost all we want. In the
shop-windows we see all the things which they sell there. When we want to
buy something we take our shopping bag and go to a shop.
People like to dress well as their living- standard is constantly increasing.
At the shoe-shop we can buy shoes, boots, sleepers, sandals, rubber-
boots, overshoes, shoelaces, high-heeled shoes or low-heeled shoes.
At the haberdashery we can buy stockings, socks, scarves, gloves, mittens, ties, tights, handkerchiefs, zippers, belts, safety- razors, blades and a host of other small things.
At the grocery we can buy flour, tea, sugar, cereals such as oatmeal, buckwheat, rice, millet, pearl-barley, etc.
At the green-grocer's they sell onions, turnips, cabbage, potatoes, melon, carrot, beet, radish, grape, etc.
At the dairy you can get milk, sweet cream, sour cream, yogurt, curds or cottage cheese, etc.
At the baker's you can buy bread, bans, rolls, etc.
I want to add that many people do the shopping at the market. There the collective-farmers and state-farm workers sell the vegetables and fruit whichthey grow themselves. They sell meat, milk, cottage cheese and other things.
